What is free max?

Free Max is a free digital audio workstation (DAW) software that allows users to produce, record, mix, and master music and audio. It was first developed by Cycling '74 in 1997 and later acquired by Ableton in 2017.

Free Max offers a wide range of features including MIDI sequencing, audio recording and editing, virtual instruments and effects, and support for VST and Audio Units plugins. It also includes a modular synthesis environment called Max for Live, which allows users to create custom instruments, effects, and devices using visual programming language.

Free Max is available for both macOS and Windows operating systems and can be downloaded from the Ableton website. Despite its name, Free Max is not a fully-featured version of Ableton Live, but it does offer a robust set of tools that allow users to create professional-quality music and audio projects.
